We return!
A fun weekend was had at the Russian River. The weekend involved the following:
So, this was the practice round: the season begins next weekend. The Russian River will be packed to capacity with boys, which should be interesting to say the least.
Now I gotta go to bed.
A fun weekend was had at the Russian River. The weekend involved the following:
- A beautiful drive across the Golden Gate Bridge—I love the Bridge (probably because I don't have to drive across it every day).
- Trying to find Wohler Beach, purportedly a "clothing-optional" beach on the River...no luck.
- Trying to enjoy Steelhead Beach, a decidedly more family-oriented idea of a beach on the River...again, no luck.
- Laying out for an hour or two at Russian Gulch Beach.
- Finding our lodging for the evening...the Willows in Guerneville: a charming guest house, but a tad too faux-hunting-lodge. Lotsa patterned wallpaper and antiques by the pound.
- Pizza and acoustic jazz at the Main Street Station. The best pizza I've had in California. Yum!
- Exploring Guerneville nightlife.... I'd never been. A little more cruisy than I expected, or wanted, really. We wanted to "get out of the city" and away from the SF bars and clubs. So, of course, we arrived in Guerneville just in time to attend the grand opening of, ta-da! The Eagle on Russian River. More men in leather and/or drag than you can shake a cover stick at. Sheesh.
- Trying to relax in the tepid hot tub at the Willows. Someone was a little unclear on the concept.
- Enjoying the view from our room. Of the hot tub. (!) (Editors Note: Fun stuff here, but damn that annoying inner censor.... Feel free to speculate wildly.)
- Laying by the pool at the Triple-R, with an icy margarita and a good book.
- Stopping at In-n-Out Burger on the way home. Cheeseburgers have never made me so happy. I could start a minor religion devoted to their burgers.
