I've been burning through books like mad lately. While in Phoenix, I finished Alas, Babylon, a very-cold-war-post-thermonuclear-obliteration book. It's hard to comprehend that the threat of nuclear war was much more pervasive than today. Sure there are many other things to worry about, but most people aren't pondering how to build a fallout shelter in the back yard. This book is good, if somewhat dated.

Finished Antarctica, by Kim Stanley Robinson last night. I enjoyed his Mars books immensely (Red, Green, Blue). This book was technically excellent, with lots of great detail on Antarctica, but I felt the plot was a little weak. It was snow for snow's sake, sorta.

Next up: Greg Bear's Darwin's Radio and Truman Capote's In Cold Blood.
