continuity

The dog got out yesterday afternoon. He's done this before, and usually comes back within an hour or two. So we weren't all that worried. We started to worry when he hadn't shown back up by 5pm. And I got very depressed when he wasn't home by 7pm.

I went out walking in the park to see if he was roaming around. When I gave up and headed back home, my phone rang. Jason was calling to let me know that Oscar had just come home. We'd left the gate cracked so he could get in through the back door.

It looks like he was hit by a car. He came home with oil all over one side, and his leg is torn up a little and he's limping, but I think he'll be okay. Nothing broken. He's home, thankfully. Children. We were a mess yesterday evening. It's hard not to feel like a bad parent.
