I'm just waiting (oh please oh please) for Dubya to screw up once and for all. This suspense is killing me.

The great TiVo givaway is void in Arizona, dammit. Not that I really want to join the Zombie army. Jason got cable for us last week, but I have yet to turn on the TV except to pop in a videotape. Ahem.
It's Friday. Not much planned for the weekend. Back to boring domestic things, which will be productive, if not interesting.
Surely there must be something going on, eh? Anyone? Anyone?

Jonno has compiled a list of weblog astrological signs. Now we can see if we're really compatible with Kottke.

The signs are up. The kitchen equipment is installed. It won't be long now! (In case you are wondering, this is what I'm talking about.)
Brian was so kind to point out that my picture below only proves that we had our photo taken up against a beige wall wearing a leather harness. I suppose there are worse things.
More pictures will follow this weekend, hopefully. I was a maniac with the camera, and have a few good ones. My mind is still spinning with the images from last weekend.

Last night was pretty much a total washout. With grand plans of going to the gym and doing some work from home, I actually ended up on the couch, book in hand. Even the book lost out at some point to a nappy-nap. Thank you for playing!

We're back. In one piece, for the most part. Exhausted and overstimulated, sure. The weekend was incredible....fun on many levels. Although we had three parties originally scheduled, I only ended up going to one: Magnitude, the Black Party on Saturday night. The party was absolutely the most fun circuit event I've been to so far. Over the top, in a good way. I'm sure it wouldn't have been for everyone, though.
The Folsom Street Fair itself was also fun. Several street blocks packed with hot, hot, hot guys, and some pretty interesting sights. We have lots of pictures and stories. Whoohoo! I can't wait for next year.

Whee. We're off to San Francisco!
Oy. Up late packing last night. Camera is charged and ready, appropriate outfits are packed, airline tickets in hand. I'm so excited I could pee my pants.
Ran into a friend last night who was, coincidentally, also going to Folsom for the weekend. We made a pact: what goes on in San Francisco, stays in San Francisco....

Ugh. This week is creeping by. I can't wait for the weekend. Fun fun fun in San Francisco.
Dinner last night with some new friends. I had a couple of beers with dinner and promptly crashed. I was in bed by 8:30. What's happening to me? I hope I'm not suffering from tired-old-married-guy syndrome.
Or maybe just tired-old-mary. Who can say?

The best laid plans.... I was so motivated to get to the gym, etc. etc. because of Folsom. Unfortunately, that's gone completely out the window. Big surprise.

What? You say a journal should be updated more than once a month? I agree. I guess I haven't had thoughts worth journaling. Jason and I passed the one year mark on September 4th. I wrote a little about what's working for us. It's even sappier than usual, so approach cautiously.
It's early. Jason is washing cars, cleaning garages, and generally doing what good boyfriends do. I type, make coffee, wash dishes, etc. It's rough.
Last night was fun fun fun. A little warmup for next weekend. Jason stumbled into a bit more fun than I did, but I won't begrudge him that. I hope to have the opportunity to even up the score, so to speak.
It's going to be hotter than you-know-what here. What's with these late season record temperatures? I'm ready for it to be cool again.

Kevin's mom had surgery today. Think good thoughts. (Haven't seen much of Kevin lately. Lots of things keeping him busy, good and not-so-good.)
Not much writing this week. Many of the boys have trekked up to Chad and Joe's "cabin" in Pine. We are going up midmorning tomorrow. Eighteen of us or so, crammed into (what sounds like) a fairly small house. Should be interesting and fun.
Happy Birthday Chad!
I crashed at about 3pm today at work, which was unfortunate because I was in the middle of an accounting meeting right that moment. Trying to deal with the aftermath of the financial statement fiasco earlier in the week.
Much to my surprise, I'm actually really, really enjoying my job. Things seem to be clicking. My boss and I are getting along well. I'm not a golden boy yet, but I think I'm gaining a little credibility. Hopefully I can help make some improvements. The place isn't bad, really. We're just a little company growing up very fast.
I'm amazed at the different point of view I have being an employee vs. a contractor. When I was contracting, it was easy to not care. The money was good, but I had no particular loyalty to the company.

Recruiters must not pay very much attention. Today I got an email from a recruiter in San Francisco looking for an Information Architect. They went on to describe the company in detail (not mentioning the name, of course).
The company sounded suspiciously like TIS Worldwide. And the position sounded suspiciously like the one I just left. You'd think they would have noticed that when they reviewed my resume.

Late night at work trying to figure out why our accounting reports don't seem to balance. Funny that. It's a little disturbing that we wait until just before the financial statements are due to worry about this.
Lots of buzz about copyright and the future of the law. What Napster hath wrought.
I finished Bret Easton Ellis' Less Than Zero Monday night. It's the second time I've read the book, but I don't remember it being so stark. It speaks to me just a little more since I've acquired a pocketful of experiences. I've started The Rules of Attraction; more hedonistic fun.
Contrast Ellis' view of LA to my noir ideas of LA gleaned from James Ellroy et al. I rather like the LA-of-the-50's romantic view in my head, but being realistic is not always my strongest suit.

The dog got out yesterday afternoon. He's done this before, and usually comes back within an hour or two. So we weren't all that worried. We started to worry when he hadn't shown back up by 5pm. And I got very depressed when he wasn't home by 7pm.
I went out walking in the park to see if he was roaming around. When I gave up and headed back home, my phone rang. Jason was calling to let me know that Oscar had just come home. We'd left the gate cracked so he could get in through the back door.
It looks like he was hit by a car. He came home with oil all over one side, and his leg is torn up a little and he's limping, but I think he'll be okay. Nothing broken. He's home, thankfully. Children. We were a mess yesterday evening. It's hard not to feel like a bad parent.

It's early. Jason is still sleeping. I finally downloaded the camera from last week and posted a few shots.
This weekend has been pretty calm. Pizza and cocktails last night at Bill's house. Then home to bed. Today will be brunch, then housework, I think. There's a pool in my future at some point, I think.

It's Friday! And the weekend stretches out in front of me like.... like.... a weekend.
Getting excited for Folsom Street Fair. Finally got back to the gym last nightthe good old YMCA. Not glamorous, but it works.
And it's payday. Love that.

Scary. I'm just finishing up Acts of the Apostles, which describes some fairly scary conspiracy theories regarding nanotechnology, virology, and the high tech industry. Bill Gates plotting to take over the world, basically. One of the key plot points revolves around the "explanation" for Gulf War Syndrome.

Dinner last night at the always impeccable T. Cook's at the Royal Palms Resort. One of the few restaurants I've enjoyed where the service is flawless. Unfortunately, Jason was catching a cold, so he sniffled his way through dinner. We came home and crashed early.

I guess there was a rather large earthquake that hit the bay area in the last couple of days. Yikes.

What a fun weekend.
Out to Padlock last night, a local leather bar, for a little warmup before adjourning to Boom for dancing. The music and crowd last night was very fun. Met a cute boy I've had a crush on for a year....more to come on that later, perhaps. Jason and I tried something new this weekend, something that I said I probably wouldn't do. Wheee!
And it's our anniversary today. One year. It's gone by quickly, and I couldn't be happier.

It's Labor Day weekend. Jason's friend Bob is here from LA. There will be dancing and general merriment this evening, I'm sure. I was tempted, however briefly, by the thought of heading to LA for the remainder of the weekend. Alas, we decided to stay.
Today was household shopping day. Jason and I, working separately, both managed to haul home a few decent tchotchkeleh for the house.
Kevin jetted off, yet again, to LA for the weekend. Quite the world traveller, that one. Working for an airline makes long-distance dating much easier.
There will be more pictures by the end of the weekend.
