Rats. Due to some odd mixup at the Maricopa County Elections Commission, it looks like I won't be able to vote. Grrrr.

Somestimes, you just have to say "fuck it" and have the nachos.
It was an odd night. Favorite circuit DJ David Knapp was in town last night for a special event at World. Everyone was excited and geared up for a good time, but I just couldn't get into it. The space was beautifully done, and the lights were good. But something wasn't clicking, and I went home early.
It may have been the music, which veered off into a tribal groove shortly after the party got going. It might have been my mood, which was odd all day yesterday: very pensive, low self-esteem. Hopefully I'll shake it in time for next weekend....San Francisco for another whirlwind circuit weekend! Eeek.

And a new Nokia phone, courtesy of Jason. Wheee! Jason got one of the new little munchkin Nokia phones, in flaming red. We know what that means....
Oh, praise the lord! DSL is working!

Marky is here from San Francisco this weekend. Oy. It's been a long weekend already, but quite fun.
Had a few people over last night for cocktails. I overprepared, as usual. We told the group that the party would start at 8, assuming that everyone would automatically run the time through the GST (Gay Standard Time) converter and show up between 8:30 and 9. A reasonable assumption, no? Well, I forgot there were a few non-gay people invited...you know who you are. Promptly at 7:30, people started showing up. I was madly rushing around in my boxer shorts putting the finishing touches on everything before I could jump in the shower.
Nevertheless, we had a great time. Some more than others.....

The Night Listener is outstanding. I have lots to say about it, but I think I'll save it until I can write something longer. I'm not sure how I feel about Maupin playing with his fame like that, though.
Mmmmm. Chocolate chip cookies for breakfast.
Jason took a new job yesterday. Sort of an interim thing until he finds something he really wants to do. Schlepping phones was making him crazy.

Proxy server at work has hosed up my Blogger login. So no posts recently. Or maybe I just don't have anything to say.

I can't wait to read The Night Listener.
Bought some new CDs today. Listening in progress.
Jason mentioned yesterday how much he missed San Francisco music, specifically the incredible sets Phil B. conjures up. Until about a year ago, I didn't realize there were distinct regional differences in club music. (Oy! Not another "DJ saved my life" moment, I hear you thinking.)
We miss the San Francisco trance sound of DJs like Phil B., Neil Lewis, Matt Consola. The DJ style here is much different: more house, a little more east coast in mixes, lotsa WhitneyCherMadonna. I suppose only have two or three DJs who do the Phoenix club scene limits your options.

Sometimes, it hits me without warning. A visceral twinge, a little shudder, and I can perceive a tiny hollow space inside where San Francisco should be. Who knew photos could do such a thing? I miss the City, a little.

I love the Y. I'm so glad we joined. It may not be as new, or as nice as some of the other gyms in town. There isn't a juice bar in the lobby. You can't buy protein shake mix in the health food store.
But the people are nice. They don't try to sell you anything, or get you locked into a three year contract. (For a gym? Why would I need a contract to go to a gym?) The folks there smile when you come in and say goodnight when you leave. If you have a problem, they try to fix it. Good customer service is worth a lot.

It isor was, depending on what side of the Atlantic you are onBrian's birthday today. Hopefully he is blissfully soused on vodka martinis and in the company of friends and/or lovers.
Happy Birthday, Brian!
Gads. Up early this morning. Interviews.
I'm slowly creeping up on redesigning our company website. Thank god. The thing looks like it was put together in Frontpage. Or by Uncle Jim's Website Emporium, Inc. Oh, wait. It was put together in Frontpage. Eeesh.

It's raining like cats and dogs here. Of course, I left my sunroof open this morning.

Mercy. Note to self: do not start drinking at 4pm on a Sunday. Under the pretext of dropping off some lamps to be rewired, I ended up at beer bust yesterday. Although I only intended to stay for two (they're small), I ended up buzzed on four and a shot of tequila. Yikes.
Needless to say, the couch was quite appealing last night. Ugh.

Here's my good deed for the day: pictures from Folsom Street Fair 2000. Warning: if you are easily offended by nekkid asses, cute boys, leather, or other overt images of queerboy sexuality, kindly keep out. Otherwise, have fun.
