Well, well. The year is nearly over. Everyone is busy being amazed at how quickly 2000 flew by. I'm flabergasted that this time last year we were busy making plans for (what we hoped would be) an amazing party in San Francisco. (Which turned out to be amazingly dull in the end.)

Now we're headed to San Diego tomorrow for a little bar hopping, a little shopping, perhaps some beach time, and another disco party on Sunday. Favorite circuit disco-lesbo-diva Susan Morabito will be at 4th and B in San Diego, spinning up a storm—if the stars are aligned properly. My expectations are lower for this party. However, I'm pleased and thrilled that many of our Phoenix friends will be there this year.

So, New Year's Resolutions will likely be posted when we return on Monday, since I'll be busy breaking most of them this weekend. Hope you all have a safe and fabulous weekend. See ya next year....

What glamorous things are you doing for New Year?

For Christmas, Jason got me (among other things) a new scanner. The previous one was slow, bulky, and—most importantly—didn't seem to work with the current retinue of computer gadgetry installed herein. The new scanner is a Canon CanoScan N650U, which wins for silliest name, but is a great piece of hardware. It's sad that I'm surprised by this, but it actually works. Installation was a snap, the software was easy to configure, and the scanner worked correctly the first time. A Mac-like plug-and-play experience that I don't have very often. Even better, it plugs into the USB port, and has no power cable. Cool.

1 hour in car + 8 stores + 5 purchases + 6 gifts to wrap = 1 tired John. But, on a whim, I stopped at the grocery store and picked up a favorite libation that I haven't enjoyed in some time. Tired John + favorite libation = happy John.

How's your Xmas shopping going?

Neat. Getting BlogVoices to work was quick and painless. I like the way Jason chose to implement discussions on an as needed basis, rather than on every post. Kinda like this. What do you think?

This week was both frantic and enjoyable. The pre-Christmas lull made work relatively painless, and several evenings included cocktails and socialization in one form or another. Shopping, however, is going to kill me. Still not done, even after I cut out of work early.

Jason is now cleaning the garage, of all things.

Have I told you lately how much I love chocolate chip cookies?

Well, the birthday party was flawless. I'm usually a wreck when I throw parties, but this one came off very well. Unfortunately, I just realized that we didn't take a single picture during the entire evening, dammit.

To summarize: Champaigne, cute boys, Christmas lights. Followed by a loopy evening out dancing at Crowbar.

A few great birthday presents.... a few bottles of wine and some wonderful champaigne. Tommy, bless his heart, crossed the line, though, and gave me a Billy doll. Leather Billy. Love that. How did he know?

Thanks to all who shared the evening with us! Amazing....

Jason's entry from today (12.15.2000) made me cry. I love you too, Boo.

Another year older. Today is my birthday. I was lazy and took the day off work. Finished up most of my Christmas shopping, and took a long nap.

Tonight is dinner with a few friends, then back home in bed by a decent hour. Tomorrow will be hectic trying to get ready for the party.

Another year older. One more year and I can start complaining that I'm almost 30.

Christmas cards, Christmas shopping, fa la la la la. Not panicking yet, but getting close. Actually, I think I'm very nearly finished with my shopping for the year. I'm only buying for a few family members. And several friends made shopping quite easy by suggesting we have dinner out at Durant's this year in lieu of gifts.

(Obligatory link to Amazon wish list. Appropriate for Birthday and Christmas too!)

I'm having a great time trying to figure out what Santa will put in Jason's stocking this year.... Lots of interesting and fun little things. Do other people still do stockings even when there are no kids in the house?

Saying no was never one of my strong points.

It's passe to complain about your DSL connection, but I will anyway. "USWest is now Qwest" is driving me up the wall. Why should an upgrade in my service (from their "Select" account to the "Deluxe" account) cause my connection to suddenly cease to exist? Why does spending an hour on the phone with a (perfectly nice but perfectly ineffective) fellow from Tech Support not fix the problem?

Oh, it's the phone company. They don't have to care.

It keeps going, and going, and going.... I thought we were nearing the end, but I guess now. Perhaps we won't need those Dubya jokes after all. Who will we make fun of then?

I've been a lazy slug for the last couple of days. Hibernating, I think. I've slept 10+ hours the last two nights. I think I needed it.

Tonight, back to the gym, finally.

There is something just dreadfully wrong with Christmas shopping when it is 70+ degrees outside. Weather the last few days has been ridiculously beautiful. Shorts, t-shirts, sunglasses, Tevas. Perhaps we should have erected a Christmas saguaro....

Ta Da!
Pretty. Shiny. White. Merry Xmas!

This is the first Christmas tree I've put up "with someone." It's a significant moment for me getting to decorate a Christmas tree with that guy I love. This is our second Christmas together, but the first tree. The first of many, I think....

So far, the new Oakenfold CD is exquisite. The final cut on disc 2 is Delerium's The Silence 2000, with incredible, haunting vocals by Sarah MacLaughlin—an outstanding track. Maybe I do need to go dancing tonight....

And the tree is tall, fragrant, and in need of oh-so-many lights.

A Christmas tree today, I think. Time to dig through the garage and see if any of the 60's ornaments I schlepped from Phoenix to SF to Phoenix have survived. I'm thinking big and gaudy this year.... If I could get away with it, I'd get a silver tinsel tree in one of those rotating musical stands.

But then attendance at our holiday party would probably plummet. (Oh yes, if you're in town on the 16th, mark your calendar for the Logan-Brown Holiday Birthday Extravaganza! You've been warned.)
