Last night was fun, m'kay?
Arena turned out to be far better than I expected. Phoenix now has access to a great club space, with a brilliant sound system. It reminded me of at least two great San Francisco clubs. How refreshing to hear music in a venue big enough for the sound. If you're at all familiar with Phoenix's current crop of (painful, claustrophobic, shoebox) gay bars, you know what I mean. Another plus, Arena is in cigarette-smoke-free Tempe.
I wracked my brain yesterday afternoon trying to recall when and/or if I had heard DJ Bryan Pfeiffer spin. I finally gave up, resigning myself to the possibility of another ride on the pots-and-pans express. (Bad DJ's are the devil's own work.)
Shock. Glee. Amazement. Mr. Pfeiffer threw down track after track of happiness all night long. Even the late-nite stuff kept me on the dancefloor, and I'm usually the first to roll my eyes and retreat to the sidelines. We left at 3am, and the music was still fun.
Despite all the positives, I'm afraid Arena has about a 1 in 10 chance of making it another month. The location is really unfortunate: the parking lot of a run down Holiday Inn in Tempe. Walking out into the pink Las Vegas motel lights was a definite buzz kill.
Nevertheless, we'll be there next weekend to hear Neil Lewis play.... heaven help us.

The stars must be aligned correctly tonite.... I've managed to work myself up to being excited about going out tonite... dancing, of all things at Arena, the au courant dance club cum weekly circuit party that has all the boys in an uproar. It helps that I spent the day listening to Neil Lewis discs, getting excited about Folsom Street Fair coming up, and uber-leather-circuit-event, Magnitude. (There is still a tiny bit of the circuit boy left in me.)
So, how excited was I to see who will be spinning at Arena next weekend? I am a geeky fanboy for Neil Lewis. Whoohoo!

The pool is done. We have a cee-ment pond for the rest of the summer. I'm enjoying it even more than I thought I would. Jumping into the pool for a few minutes before bed, or in the morning before showering does wonders for my disposition.
And, can I just say that having a pool makes it terribly tempting to "work from home" more often than is probably prudent.
The yard is still a vast pile of dirt. Next up is a patio of some sort. And green things.

Hot dog! The pool is about 1/3 full. They came this morning to clean up the pebbletec and install the rest of the gizmos. We can't run the filter or add any chemicals until the gas gets hooked up next week, but we should be able to splash around this weekend. Yay!

Well, doesn't that just suck. Haven't been able to post for several days because my Blogger template seems to have vanished. The error message returned by the app says "we're working on this." I was able to fix it in minutes by re-creating the template, but I assumed that it really was a problem with Blogger. Nice. No wonder everyone is sprinting to moveable type. I shouldn't bitch because Blogger is free, but still.....
