Finally got the AirPort Express hooked up to the rest of the network. Required the purchase of a new broadband router thingy and much futzing, but I can now press "Play" on iTunes and hear muzak from the main stereo speakers. Joy oh joy!

It's Tuesday, the day we read from your letters.

No, wait.

it's Tuesday and I'm finally recovered from the weekend. Casual homo pool party with much silliness, alcohol, and shishkabobs. Enjoyed myself, met a few new people who I think we should get to know better, and managed to wind up up with a 24-hour-hangover.

Half our friends are headed to San Diego for the big ol' gay dance party at the Zoo, and the other half should be invading our pool and drinking vodka all weekend.

So the DSL switch drama wasn't all that bad.

After finally figuring out the magic number I needed to connect, I managed to get the DSL modem hooked up to the broadband router reasonably painlessly. Can I just tell you how much I love Apple and their zero-conf networking? No "you must restart to complete this installation" nonsense. Plug in and wait a moment for the computer to figure things out, then go. Very cool.

OK, so not quite so easy as that.... but pretty damn close. I'm still cleaning the cruft off of Jason's computer. Uninstalling old modem, removing old DSL software from his computer.... But the ATT Worldnet DSL is way faster than Qwest. I've been so gunshy about "switching" because I didn't want to go thru the hassle. But now it's pretty damn nice.

Jason is en route to Palm Springs as we speak. A weekend out of the heat... no... wait... um, no, actually.

Monsoon. Thunderstorms. Wildfires. Impending power failures. Dirty swimming pools. Flakey cars.

Summer in the city. No, not the City, just Phoenix. Jason jets off to Palm Springs this weekend. ("Jets" in his new car, not flying, if you care to know.)

Plans to be in San Diego for the end-of-month faggotry are cancelled for lack of funds and the need to be sober enough to deal with work whilst my boss visits her family. Alas. Work trip to Toronto, however, may be in the cards.

Lack of funds did not preclude the aquisition of a new Airport Express for playing of disco tunes to the house stereo. DSL is being moved from Qwest to AT&T, which I'm sure will result in disconnected broadband shortly. Once that messiness is over, we should have a brand-new network configured, without (much) fear of virii and other PC-flavored invaders.

So where are you going this summer?

It's the Fourth. Much poolside time, lawnmowing, and burning bits of cow will commence shortly.

Cheers, everyone.
