Sting avec Annie Lennox last night at Cricket Pavillion. The night was beautiful. Annie seemed to be phoning her performance in initially, but wound up with a decent set. I enjoyed Sting, and his hi-tech stage, much more than I thought I would. Both included a lot of older material from past lives. Thankfully, since both of their current albums aren't my favorites. Several $8 beers and bad chicken strips put me in a coma, and the night was over by 11pm.

Started reading Life of Pi.

Just in time for Autumn, Phoenix decides to become livable once again. Overnight lows in the 60s, highs near 90, at most. Air conditioner off, windows thrown open.

I'm always amused how drastically the weather changes from god-awful to brilliant basically overnight.

Sweaters and long-sleeves soon. Long pants. Real shoes. Time to put away the sandals for another year. Yay!

It's 1am and I cannot sleep after Indian food and many beers with coworkers last night. Or rather, it's 4am. Freaking time zones. Our flight leaves at 7:30am, which means I have to be up in an hour anyway. Ugh.

So we've managed to kill the tree in our front lawn. Didn't notice that it had grown into the wires lashing the trunk to the supporting stakes. The wire was lodged about 1/2 deep into the trunk, a surefire way to end the life of any poor tree.

So I'm going to Toronto this week. An attempt to salvage a project that has gone somewhat south on me. I wish I were going under better circumstances. But our sales guy in TO has promised to take us out after the client meeting for Indian food and much drinking.

No San Diego for us this weekend. Decided to stick around and get caught up on work and house things. The weather here has turned warm. Below 100 degrees each day, and the nights are almost tolerable, finally. I guess the rest of the country is starting "fall" soon, whatever that is. The year has raced by, and the holidays will be here again soon.
