Hash House a Go Go is a San Diego institution which serves up obscenely large portions of food. We're talking trashcan lids full of fried potatoes, eggs, biscuits, gravy, etc. etc. etc. One breakfast arrived on a platter that would have easily held enough pasta for four. The (butterscotch) pancake we ordered for the table was a good 12 inches in diameter.
We loved it, and they pack the place daily.
The Irish and English think our very American affinity for gigantic portions is wasteful and excessive. I can't disagree. I would have been satisfied with half the food plonked in front of me at Hash House, but it was tasty nonetheless.
The stocky, babyfaced bartender didn't hurt either.

In San Diego this weekend. Alas, I am missing the Jimbo invasion in Tucson.
Hooked up with friends from San Francisco and Phoenix last night for dinner at Hamburger Mary's, and then tasty malt beverages. But our energy level was low, so we declared the evening over fairly early and retired to the hotel. The lobby of the W is apparently a noisy, trendy lounge on weekends. I could barely hear myself think. But the room is relatively nice, and the bed soft and cuddly.
I refuse to pay $9 for a bottle of fussy water, however. At that price, I hope it was bottled by Norweigian elves and served with a side of caviar.
Enough complaints. We are now off to Hash House a Go Go (Gogo?) for breakfast.

My, my, my. Nearly a month and a half since I've written something postable. In that time, I've been to London, Tipperary, back to London, returned home, been out sick for a week, etc. etc.
Missed our first rugby game in San Diego. One hears the team lost by a respectable 15-6, with only a few minor injuries: a black eye, a broken finger, and some bruised ribs.
Jason is currently in San Francisco, and he may come back with a job. Chez Logan/Brown may be migrating westward once more. Methinks I will meet him in San Diego this weekend for a quick weekend of fun. Free airline ticket lets me feel somewhat less guilty for splurging on a nice room at the W.
And we get to go back to London for Jason's birthday in a few weeks. This time we're headed to Paris for a weekend sometime in there as well.
