We're off to Sedona for the weekend where it is (only slightly) cooler. I've never been, so expect plenty of red-rock pictures later.

Record-breaking temperatures here in Phoenix.
Unfortunately, the records were broken inside our house. A dust storm Sunday night took out most of our power (something about a missing b-phase) at 9pm. The house was 90 degrees in 15 minutes, and reached over 100 degrees sometime yesterday afternoon. The thermostat gave up at 99, so we have no idea how hot it really was.
So last night we checked the doggie into the kennel and checked ourselves into the hotel across the park. The power must have been restored sometime after 9pm last night, because it was cool when I came home this morning. I'm not looking forward to that again.

Listening to a re-run of A Prairie Home Companion and chuckling whist ignoring the housecleaning.
A high-heat advisory for Phoenix starting at 10am through 8pm. Unlucky. But it's bright and sunny and I feel like throwing open the blinds to let the light stream into the office. I'll pay for it later. Literally, when the power bill arrives.
Wishing we were in Guerneville.

Wotcher.
Well, that was a fine way to spend a Saturday. Picked up my copy of the new Harry Potter from the post office at 9am and read straight through in one go.
Housecleaning can wait until tomorrow.

South Ken Closed for Business
Loads of photos of the bus and trains today in London, but this photo hits me. I haven't been to Brian's new flat as yet, so South Kensington station is still my point of origin in London. Spent most of the day reading the news and staring at the Underground map.

Last week's New York Times story about KCRW music show Morning Becomes Eclectic (and the host/DJ Nic Harcourt) reminded me of 80's Australian music.
Which reminded me of discovering Icehouse on my trip to Australia my freshman year of high school. A few clicks and a few days pass, and Amazon drops off this lovely CD in my mailbox.
Is my hair bigger?
