I was only kidding when I said that we should plan a trip to New Orleans before it sinks into the Gulf of Mexico.
Very sad and confused watching the news. The pictures are horrific, but the lack of information must be doubly so for all caught in the mess. I want to scream and throw something at the radio every time NPR repeats the line about Governor Barber claiming that "at least 100" lost in one county alone. Clearly it's much much worse than that, but the newsy types don't have any better information to share.
Like most of the blogging queers, I've been following Jonno and Richard, sending good vibes their way and hoping they can keep their shit together. Very thankful they were able to flee to be among friends. I hope one day to get to see their good city in better circumstances.

I think I'm just not meant to see LA. Plans have changed, and I guess we're going to Strawberry for quiet weekend instead of LA silliness.

The heat is back (and the monsoon mostly gone) in Arizona. Heat advisories yesterday and today, and plus-100 degree days in store for awhile. Another month or so before the heat breaks and Arizona becomes a pleasant place to live once more.
We're talking about LA next weekend for the Labor Day holiday. I've still never really been, so hopefully there will be some fun in store. We also want to get out to visit Wade before the snow starts up there in Chicago....

Woke up with a craving for a bacon sandwich. (And I wasn't even hung over.) Quite a good way to start the weekend, although its better on a cold morning, I think. Good bacon, tomatoes, crusty bread and lots of brown sauce. Yummers.
So, to continue the theme, I stopped at the post office to pick up an Amazon box with my brand new shiny League of Gentlemen Collection. Started watching the first season. I'm alternately cringing and rolling on the floor.
I think I lost Jason about halfway through the first episode, though.

I have been a consumer this weekend. Boring, but there you are.
Lunch at our local. George and Dragon for roast beef with Yorkshire pud and a few pints of Boddington. Perfect.
Lots of shopping. New B&D coffee pot. All sorts of brushed steel-ly goodness. I can finally make a decent pot of coffee again. (And there was much rejoicing.)
And a new HP laser printer. Should you ever be posessed to purchase a laser printer without a feeder tray (or even worse, with an upright feeder slot where you stuff 50 or so sheets of paper), please do not. For the last two years, Jason and I have been forced to print documents one page at a time, feeding sheets of paper one at at time into the printer lest it jam.
And, since it was over 100 again today, that's about all the excitement we can handle for a single afternoon.
