Big Zeros

So what do you buy for your mother when she turns 60. I leave for Idaho for a few days next Friday, so I need to get presents sorted this weekend.

Should be a fun time. My aunt (her sister) will be visiting, a sort of mini-family reunion.

We're also trying to figure out what to do for Memorial Day. I'm thinking San Diego. (Are you listening Brian?)

Finally

I'll probably jinx it by posting this, but I think I may have the Mini sold. It's been a good car, and I'll be very sad to see it go. But time to move on....

I'm quite happy with my much-larger and not-at-all-fuel-efficient Rover. Not the most practical car to move back to SF with, but I figure it will mostly sit parked there, and will be fun to have on the weekends.

Don't Ask Why

I spent most of the day in Key West. It's a cross between Fisherman's Wharf, Haight Ashbury, and the party strip in Cancun. Old Town is packed with bar after bar, and the odor of stale beer is pervasive in that neighborhood. The other businesses seem to be head shops or purveyors of trinkets to the cruise ship set.

Also, wild chickens roam the street.

I walked to the Southernmost Point and fought the crowds for a picture. Then wasted $11 at the Hemingway House. But it was still fun. I got plenty of sun.

Moon over the Keys

The moon over the lagoon by the hotel on Duck Key in Florida.

Breezy

Warmer today. The sun seem especially bright, and the day is fine and hot.

I spent two hours after breakfast by the pool enjoying the breeze and the sun. Then a break for a brief massage. Nice enough, but left me wanting more....

Now lunch and naps.

View from my Balcony

I'm on Duck Key in Florida for a week. It's ostensibly a work trip, but the agenda looks pleasingly sparse. I've already had a couple of hours by the pool with a mojito or three. The weather is lovely, and the ocean is a crisp blue that hurts your eyes.

I can see why people love it here. The hurricanes, not so much.
