Bad. Very bad.
I'm a total Apple Fanboy. But the new Amazon music store is pretty cool. It still needs a bit of polish with the browsing and finding music, but I've purchased a bunch of random CDs from them in the past two days. The lower prices are nice, and it seems to "just work", which is a quality I expect in both Apple and Amazon. Well done.

What I Did on my SF Vacation
Alas, nothing more exciting than shopping, dinner with friends, and a few good meals out. But it was a nice, cool weekend in the city.

City of Snakes
In San Francisco, sitting out on the back patio stealing WiFi from one of the neighbors. Quite fast.
Flew in late last night and headed to the Castro for a couple of drinks. Moby Dick was entirely too crowded, so we made it for one and then left. I don't know how anyone hooks up at a bar like that. It's pretty much impossible to do anything except stand in one place. Getting a drink took ages.
Walked around Hayes Valley this morning taking a few pictures. None of which turned out very well, unfortunately. We had breakfast at Stacks. Sort of an upscale Good Egg, but the food is good. There must be a rule that all breakfast food joints must serve their eggs in those ceramic skillets. Wierd.
And a coffee from Blue Bottle Coffee Co. Now I'm wired.
Not sure what the plan is for the rest of the day. Maybe more pictures and shopping. Something fun tonight, I hope.

Wrap
Last night in Las Vegas. We did fuck all today, opting to sleep in and hang at the hotel. Extra restful, which is just fine.
Yesterday was shopping at Fashion Show Mall and the shops at the Wynn, followed by multiple cocktails and snacks at the Parasol bar inside the Wynn hotel. The Wynn is uber-nice, and I'd love to stay there sometime. We got to spend quite a bit of time in the hotel this trip, but we weren't really guests. The clientele is a bit posh, but it really is quite a nice property. I wish we could have spent some time in the sun by the pool, since the Flamingo pools are a bit crowded and ghetto.
Last night was dinner at Bouchon in the Venetian. I spent the last three years chatting up this restaurant (albeit the one in Napa Valley), but it was worth the wait. Thomas Keller's perfectionism coupled with really fantastic French bistro food. I loved everything we had last night. Champagne. The petit plateau (oysters, clams, shrimp, mussels, and lobster). Pate and begnets de brandade. Steak frites. Yum. I told everyone at the table that the fries were probably the best in the country. They were. Better than Les Halles.
Alas, no dessert. We were stuffed after all that food. We schlepped home and passed out, very happy.
Today was a bit less fancy: the buffet at the Flamingo, plus room service. Tomorrow we head home. It's been a very nice weekend, especially being part of Todd and Val's wedding (Mr. and Mrs. Michaels).
PS. While spell checking this post, my MacBook decided to take a swan dive and its hard drive ceased to be. All I could get it to do was go click-click-click. So I'm finishing this up on Jason's laptop while I install Mac OS on my new 160GB laptop drive. Joy. And I haven't backed up for weeks! Ugh.

Mirror at the Wynn
Real Flamingos!
Las Vegas
I'm up entirely too early in Las Vegas, drinking a room service bloody mary and posting pictures on Flickr.
We drove down yesterday to spend the weekend in Vegas and see Jason's brother Todd get married. The bride and groom are staying at the posh and terribly dear Wynn, whilst we settled for the delightfully tacky Flamingo. Seriously.
Last night was Spamalot. Cute, funny.
